32 hole Nuke Proof carbon fiber hubs laced to Mavic 217 Silver rims. Stainless spokes, alloy nipples in black. Wheels are used, but in great shape and ready to roll. Bearings are smooth and free from any sign of slop or play. There are some minor marks on the rims from use, minor marks on the hub body from instalation of the cassette. Rear hub is 8-9 speed. Front hub is oversized (although the axle is standard 100mm, not the more modern oversized through axle type things found on hubs today), which if memory serves, was called the Atom Bomb. These wheels came from a bike that I bought for some of the other parts on it. I don't have a candidate bike for these wheels for my own use, and other than riding the bike thay came on around the parking lot to check it out before buying, I don't have much experience with these wheels. They were very clean when I bought the bike and took very little effort to prep them for this auction. The only minor issues I found were that there is one blue nipple (in the red circle in the full wheel picture), although its placement next to the blue Mavic logo has me wondering if the nipple was put there intentionally by the person who originally built the wheels, as some wheelbuilders did things like that back in the day, and second, one of the Mavic 217 stickers is peeling up from the rim a bit. Finally, the rear wheel has less tension on it that I would ride, but some folks like a softer riding wheel, afforded by the lower tension. I'm not monkeying with it, because it's straight and true, but if you want to add a turn to the spokes, that's up to you.
